Clean Water With Reverse Osmosis

What is Reverse Osmosis?

Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that utilizes a semi-permeable membrane to remove impurities, contaminants, and particles from water. In simple terms, it’s like a microscopic sieve that allows only pure water molecules to pass through, leaving behind unwanted substances.

How Does it Work?

At the heart of a reverse osmosis system is the semi-permeable membrane, which acts as a barrier to contaminants. Water is forced through this membrane under pressure, and as it passes through, impurities such as bacteria, viruses, minerals, and pollutants are effectively filtered out. The result is clean, crisp water that is safe for human and animal consumption.

Benefits of a Reverse Osmosis System:

  1. Purity You Can Taste: Reverse osmosis systems are designed to remove up to 99% of common contaminants found in tap water, including chlorine, fluoride, lead, and more. This purification process enhances the taste and odor of water, providing a refreshing and pure drinking experience.
  2. Healthier Living: A reverse osmosis system contributes to a healthier lifestyle by eliminating harmful contaminants. Clean water is essential for well-being, and RO systems protect against waterborne diseases.
  3. Cost-Effective Alternative: Investing in a reverse osmosis system can be a cost-effective solution in the long run. Bottled water expenses can add up quickly, but with an RO system, you have a continuous supply of purified water at your fingertips, right from the tap.
  4. Reduce Bottled Water Waste: Choosing a reverse osmosis system over bottled water saves you money and helps reduce plastic waste.
  5. Easy Maintenance: A sediment filter typically needs to be changed every six months and the rest of the filters yearly. Regular maintenance ensures the system continues to operate at peak efficiency, providing you with a consistent, clean water supply.

While a reverse osmosis system has great benefits there are a few things we want you to be aware of. The reverse osmosis system filters out all minerals so if you’re used to drinking mineralized water you may want to add minerals. We include a mineral filter that contains calcium. Ask our plumbers for more information regarding mineralization.

Additionally, there is an impact on water usage. To clean the water, the reverse osmosis system typically uses three gallons of water to make one gallon of pure water.
