6 Air Conditioner Season Prep Tips

Larry N., an HVAC technician at All Comfort Services, shares his tips for getting your air conditioner ready spring and summer:

1. Make sure the outside condensing coil is clean (a condensing coil looks something like a radiator).
2. Change your furnace filter.
3. Make sure the area above and around the sides of the air conditioner are clear of branches and shrubbery.
4. Clear dirt, bark, and grass clippings away from the bottom so that unit can drain.
5. Look for signs of animal or insect activity. It’s not uncommon to find a nest or have wires chewed. A service technician can check to make sure there is no damage.
6. Make sure your air conditioner is annually maintained by a heating and cooling professional service technician.
