Our History
All Comfort Services started out life in 1974 as an air conditioning and heating company called Air Comfort.
We've been in this industry so long, we feel like we've been in it since 100 AD, about the time the Romans invented the hypocaust system.
Hypocaust literally means "heat from below." Hypocaust systems were used for heating public baths and private houses. The floor was raised above the ground by pillars, called pilae stacks, and spaces were left inside the walls so that hot air and smoke from the furnace would pass through these enclosed areas and out of flues in the roof, thereby heating but not polluting the interior of the room. Ceramic box tiles were placed inside the walls to both remove the hot burned air, and also to heat the walls. Rooms requiring the most heat were placed closest to the furnace, whose heat could be increased by adding more wood. It was labor-intensive to run a hypocaust as it required constant attention to tend the fire, and expensive in fuel, so it was a feature of the villa and public baths.
This is a diagram of what the hypocaust system would look like.
In 1974, the main engineering systems were based on pneumatic principles. The systems were based on the properties of steam and air to control the flow of heated or cooled air. There are still some pneumatic systems around today in buildings about 100 years old.
The mid 1980's saw our industry switch to electromechanical systems. The use of electronic switches and transistors became common place as these components could handle a greater current load.
Since the new millennium, this technology has changed again. With the invention of the computer chip, our industry has made giant leaps in standards of efficiency. Today, practical needs continue to drive innovations in the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) sector. The heat exchanger is the hidden workhorse of this field, ensuring that whenever there is a temperature difference heat can be transferred efficiently from one medium to another. This process is central to the functioning of any climate control system, from central heating to domestic refrigerators to hot-water heaters.
All Comfort Services has seen it all. We've been around since 1974 and continue to monitor and stay on top of the latest technologies and advances in HVAC systems. You can be sure that we will continue to be a local leader in the industry.
As you can see from one of our vans, we've had to alter the way we do business. Since 2000 we have added Electrical and Plumbing divisions to our list of services offered. As of 2009, we offer Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, Indoor-Air Quality, In-Home Security, and Air Duct Cleaning services to our customers.
